The recent demise of the popular YouTuber, Agastya Chauhan has raised serious concerns regarding the YouTube channels that post content around stunts on bikes on roads.
In the latest case of a famous YouTuber’s death, the Police have written to YouTube to suspend channels that promote such stunts on roads. YouTube has become enormous in India in the last few years. Celebrities are getting created on the social media platform by posting their videos doing various activities. Today, we are concentrating on content creators who perform dangerous and illegal stunts on public roads to create viral content. While they get millions of views, such videos also encourage their subscribers to mimic them, which is problematic.

This is a precarious situation where imitating their favorite YouTubers will jeopardize their own safety and the safety of others on the roads. In fact, we have been witnessing more and more crashes of bikes in the last few years. Such channels could be the inspiration behind people trying to attempt perilous stunts. Hence, it becomes necessary to have some sort of regulation on these channels because young people just get enamoured by the YouTubers and don’t think about the consequences of what could happen if things go wrong.

In this video, the Police officer is heard saying they had warned Agastya a few months ago. But he didn’t pay heed to the warning. In the last video prior to his fatal crash, he was saying in his vlog that he is nervous but will try to ride the bike at 300 km/h on the expressway. In his last video, he even hit 279 km/h. But while attempting 300 km/h, he met with an accident as he lost control of his bike and succumbed to his injuries on the spot. The Police are writing to YouTube again to suspend channels promoting such stunts. Perhaps, that is the only way to tackle this issue.
