The news channels are full of the developments from the tragic coaching centre tragedy from Rajendra Nagar in New Delhi.
In a strange turn of events, a YouTuber in his Force Gurkha has been spotted at the unfortunate Rajendra Nagar in Delhi where the coaching centre students died due to water logging. We see each year how terrible the flooding situation in many cities gets during the monsoon season. The drainage technology has not been updated in most Indian cities for decades now. On top of that, the new construction and inhabitation have changed the outlook of the cities. Unfortunately, the infrastructure has not kept up with the development. Hence, tragic incidents are rather common.
YouTuber’s Force Gurkha Seen Driving Thru Water
While the internet is full of news reports about the deaths of students in Rajendra Nagar’s Rau’s IAS study circle, a YouTuber was busy trying to demonstrate the capabilities of his Force Gurkha to his followers. This video clip from The Indian Express on YouTube captures the moment when the YouTuber drove his off-roading SUV with force at the same location where the fatal incident occurred. The Police have arrested the YouTuber citing the fact that driving a vehicle there contributed in opening the gate of the basement of the coaching institute which led to the sad demise of multiple students.
Now, it is clear in the visuals that the area was already inundated with water. However, the vehicular movement must’ve been restricted to ensure that the situation doesn’t exacerbate. However, the YouTuber didn’t pay any heed to the sensitivity of the matter and drove his SUV brazenly on the flooded street. As a result, the Police took cognizance of the matter and booked him under various sections including BNS section 105 culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Apart from that, the 5 owners of the basement have also been taken into custody. These include the coaching centre’s CEO Abhishek Gupta and Coordinator Deshpal Singh. The accused will be presented before the court on Monday.
Our View
I am sure everyone is deeply saddened by this horrific case. Nevertheless, the authorities and building owners are playing the blame game. The real issue here is the violation of the bylaws which prohibits usage of the basement of any building for commercial activities. It remains to be seen what the outcome of the investigation will be. Still, the families of those who lost their lives in this disaster can only hope that things change from here on and there are no such incidents going forward. This case also highlights the ill effects of YouTubers pursuing viral content at any cost.
