Now that the lockdown is in process, you cannot take out your car or your bike for the next 20 days. They might give some problems while starting up.
Till 15th April our country is under complete lockdown and people cannot take out their cars or bikes till then. Only if you are working in exempted services or are in an emergency, you would be let go by the policeman and their checkpoint.
So that means your beloved car or bike will be laid down to rest till 15th April. That may give you problems while starting your car and bike after nearly 21 days. Probably, your vehicle might not even start in the first two or three cranks.
Not to worry about it. There are a couple of things that you can do to ensure your car or bike fires up instantly after 21 days.
1. Keep Your Car Cleaned
For those who have their cars parked outside, they can clean their car every day. Bird droppings or leaves erode the paint and damage it. So, it would be better to just wipe your car every day with a wet cloth and it will do the work.
2. Keep Your Fuel Tank Full
Now you can do nothing about it. But in case if you have to leave your house in case of some urgent work, take 5 minutes out and fill up the tank full. If your tank is full there would not be any moisture gathering inside the fuel tank. You have to ensure that there is no space for air in the fuel tank if your car is on hibernation mode.
3. If You Have A Closed Parking, Fire It Up Daily
For those who have closed parking should not have any issues. Just crank it up once a day and keep it on for 1-2 minutes. That will keep the engine in running and won’t trouble you after the lockdown.
4. Keep The Tyre Pressure In Check
If your car is unused for a lot of time, the tyre pressure goes down because of the car’s weight. If there is a chance that you get to take your car out, it would be good to keep the pressure checked. For those who have a tyre pressure checking machine at home, you can use it once a day.
5. Check The Battery Or Probably Disengage It
The battery is the most important and vulnerable thing to happen when a car is unused. If your car is brand new, the battery won’t be affected that much because of this lockdown. If you have even a year old car, the battery might drain when in this period. While most of the batteries take months to be drained automatically but it is advisable to disengage it.
6. Disengage It From Parking Brake
Keeping your car engaged in parking brake for so long might jam it. To repair a parking brake is very costly. So either you put it in gear or put tyre stoppers or bricks to stop its motion.
7. Put A Cover On The Car
Those who have their car parked outside and own a car cover should go down immediately. This will ensure that your car is clean and the paint is also safe.
8. Once Started, Keep The Car On For Some Time
After the lockdown ends, the first thing you do is start the car and keep it on for a couple of minutes. Do not give it a raise and rather keep it on.
