But the main cringe derives from the sheer brightness of this all yellow paint theme of this Mahindra Thar. While there are no more modifications or body treatments, the colour itself has the potential to freak out a ton of people. However, the alloy wheels look really nice on the SUV. But such large wheels will compromise the ride quality of the SUV, especially over bad patches of road. On the flip side, the wide tyres will make for a great handling machine. Additionally, the black soft top roof brings in the cool element as well.

The Thar comes with 2 engine options, a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel, and a 2-litre turbo-petrol. The oil-burner makes 130 PS/320 Nm of peak figures while the petrol makes 150 PS/320 Nm of max figures. Transmission options for both the powertrains are a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic with a low range box. You also get a transfer case and a mechanically locking centre differential.

The prices of the Thar range between Rs 13.17 lakh and Rs 15.53 lakh, ex-showroom. The only direct rival is the Force Gurkha which has also recently received a new-gen upgrade.
