Honda Activa, Mahindra Rodeo, TVS Wego and Suzuki Access are one of the most popular and hot selling gearless scooters in India these days. Yamaha is correct in gauging this demand and claim its share of the pie. With demand of popular scooters like Honda Activa being as much as two months, it’s a right move for Yamaha to enter the segment and create more choices in the segment.
Yamaha India National business Head, Pankaj Dubey has quoted :
We have completed the feasibility study and plan to launch new gearless scooters in the Indian market shortly. We will enter the market with exciting products in the scooter segment. We are confident that our products will do well. Gearless scooters are more in demand in the market.
So far there is no information on the product lineup, but we expect that the scooters by Yamaha will be less than 150 cc as with most of the competitor’s product offering up to 10BHP of power. Fuel economy and style will be most important factors along with affordable price tag to make its space in this segment.
