Yamaha R15 V3 finally gets a dual-channel ABS unit, which is a first in the 150cc segment. Along with ABS, the bike gets a new Dark Knight colour option.
Just two days back, we reported that R15 V3 ABS has started reaching dealerships across the country. Now, Yamaha India has confirmed our doubts and has launched the much-awaited ABS variant.
Yamaha R15 V3 ABS has been priced at Rs 1.39 Lakhs for the Racing Blue and Thunder Grey colours. A new Dark Knight colour has also been introduced, priced at Rs 1.41 Lakhs (prices ex-showroom).
It is the first 150cc motorcycle to sport a dual-channel ABS. However, R15 has set itself, a class apart from the regular 150cc motorcycles. With this update, Yamaha R15 V3 gets even more desirable.

Other than these two updates, the bike gets no further changes. It continues with the same features and same engine specs, just with an added logo of ‘ABS’.
When we had the R15 V3 for our road test, we faced many problems in high-speed braking. The absence of ABS was felt badly, as the tires got locked immediately on sudden braking. In performance bikes like these, the need for ABS is highly felt.
Yamaha R15 V3 gets a 155cc liquid-cooled engine that produces 19.3 BHP @ 10,000 RPM and 14.7 Nm @ 8,500 RPM of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch.

The mileage recorded on the bike went up to 50 kmpl. It records a top speed of 131 km/hr.
It gets the Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) system, which assists in generating torque from low-range to mid-range through one camshaft and from mid-range to high-range through another camshaft, depending on the throttle. This also benefits the bike in achieving better mileage.
Features onboard include dual-LED headlamps, LED tail lamps, lowered clip-on handlebars, fully digital instrument cluster and now, ABS.
