Yamaha MT-15 has managed to record a healthy sales figure within 15 days of its launch. For the month of March, more than 5000 units have been sold.
Yamaha MT-15 was launched on March 15, as the manufacturer’s second naked streetfighter in India. It is based on the R15 V3, carrying the same engine and features.
Within 15 days of its launch, Yamaha has managed to sell 5203 units of the MT-15 in India. Similar sales figures were recorded from the R15 V3 in its first month of launch in 2018.
The MT-15 is priced at Rs 1.36 Lakhs (ex-showroom), which is just Rs 3,000 cheaper than the R15 V3. This makes it the most expensive 150cc naked motorcycle in India.

Yamaha MT-15 uses a 155cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) system. The motor is tuned to produce 19.1 BHP at 10000 RPM and 14.8 Nm of peak torque at 8500 RPM.
The naked streetfighter gets bug-shaped LED headlamps, a single-step up seat, ABS, LED tail lights, fully digital instrument console with negative light and Fuel-Injection system.
Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks up front and a rear monoshock absorber. MT-15 gets disc brakes at both the ends, but comes with a single-channel ABS instead of the dual-ABS setup on R15 V3.
The global-spec MT-15 comes with USD Forks at the front and monoshock at the back, with an option of Ohlins rear suspension. They haven’t been equipped on the India-spec version, to keep the prices in check.
