Yamaha MT-15 is a naked performance motorcycle, all set to launch in India. Basically, it is a naked street version of the popular Yamaha R15 V3.
The Yamaha MT-15 finally makes its debut in India. It is a naked streetfighter version of the R15 V3, which actually uses a lot of parts from the latter.
At a price of Rs 1.36 Lakhs, it is slightly higher priced than what we expected. MT-15 goes against the likes of TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, Bajaj Pulsar NS200 and KTM Duke 125.
Basically, Yamaha MT-15 is a naked street version of the fully faired Yamaha R15 V3. Both share a lot of cycle parts between them but are completely different from each other. Here are some differences between both the bikes.

Yamaha MT-15 is a naked street performance bike, with an upright sitting position. It gets the lowered handlebars, which puts the rider in a bit of a racing posture.
Yamaha R15 V3 gets a fully dedicated riding position which clip-on handlebars. So, if you see, the biggest difference comes in the riding posture of both the bikes.
The design of MT-15 is completely different from that of R15. The naked bike gets bug-type looking LED headlamps at the front. Since it is a naked bike, the engine remains completely exposed. Looks like, it will get a step-up single seat.

R15 V3 gets twin LED headlamps, inspired by the elder Yamaha motorcycles. It is a fully faired motorcycle, defining the proper sportsbike. Also, it sports a split seat, which the pillion literally sitting above the rider.
Meanwhile, Yamaha MT-15 and R15 V3 share the same engine, suspension setup, braking setup and also the same instrumentation. Both use a 155cc liquid-cooled 4 Valve engine that puts out 19.1 BHP and 14.8 Nm of torque.
Yamaha has designed the engine of MT-15 is in a different tuning. More torque is available at the low-end and mid-range, so as to offer practicality in city riding. MT-15 is mainly developed for the urban environment.
MT-15 will get telescopic forks at the front and an adjustable mono-shock at the back. For safety purposes, it will use disc brakes at the front and the back, paired to a dual-channel ABS.

The prices of both bikes are in a similar range. R15 V3 is priced at Rs 1.39 Lakhs. Yamaha MT-15, on the other hand, goes for Rs 1.36 Lakhs, which is a mere Rs 3000 cheaper.
