A presentation including the Yamaha MT-15 has been showcased to dealers. The slides in the presentation inform that it is ‘Coming Soon to India’.
Yamaha‘s Dark Warrior, or the new MT-15 has been confirmed for India launch. A teaser has been showcased to the dealers present at the launch event on 21st January.
The teaser from the presentation shows the India-spec Yamaha MT-15. It says that the naked performance bike is ‘Coming Soon’ to India. We suspect the bike to be launched in February, next month.
Already, the spy shots of the motorcycle have come up. It has been spotted testing often on the Noida expressway, near to the manufacturer’s plant in Greater Noida.

Yamaha MT-15 is loosely based on the India-spec Yamaha R15 V3. The cycle parts and the engine specifications are the same.
The India-spec MT-15 gets telescopic forks instead of USD Forks. The alloy wheels are also different from the Thai-spec MT-15. The Indian version borrows them from R15.
Also, Yamaha MT-15 for India gets a box-type swingarm with a linkage-type rear monoshock. Rest of the bits seem to be true to the Thai-spec. The headlights and the styling remain the same.
MT-15 gets full LED headlamps, a fully digital instrument cluster, LED tail lights and dual-channel ABS setup. The muscular fuel tank with shroud extensions is similar to that on the Thai-spec.

It continues with the 155cc liquid-cooled SOHC engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) system. The engine puts out 19.1 BHP and 14.8 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed transmission.
Meanwhile, the bookings for the Yamaha MT-15 have already begun at many dealerships. The booking amount ranges between Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 depending on the dealership.

A pricing range of Rs 1.3-1.4 Lakhs is expected for the bike. It will compete with the likes of TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, Bajaj Pulsar NS200 and KTM Duke 125.
