Here are 5 things that you need to know about the Yamaha MT-15, before setting your eyes on it!
1. Yamaha MT-15 is expected to launch in February itself. Earlier, it was rumoured to launch on 21st January, but Yamaha FZ V3 ABS and other ABS models were launched that day.
2. We expect MT-15 to carry a price tag of around Rs 1.3 Lakhs (ex-showroom). With a similar price range, it will be placed near to R15 V3, which goes for Rs 1.39 Lakhs.
If it launches in the said price range, it will compete with the likes of TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, Bajaj Pulsar NS200 and KTM Duke 125.
3. For engine purposes, Yamaha MT-15 relies on R15 V3. It uses the popular 155cc liquid-cooled DOHC engine with VVA system. The engine gives out 19.1 BHP and 14.8 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

The same unit comes on R15, without any changes. There are chances that MT-15 might get a BS-6 engine onboard.
4. MT-15 looks very identical to the Thai-spec version. The Indian version misses some minor styling bits, just to keep the costs in check. It loses out on the sculpted fuel tank, shroud extensions and alloy wheels.
However, it retains the bug-eyed LED headlamps, fully digital instrument clsuter, the single step-up seat and the muscular creases. It borrows the multi-spoke alloy wheels from R15 V3.
5. Lastly, we talk about the suspension setup and braking system, which are confirmed. Yamaha MT-15 uses telescopic forks at the front and a single adjustable mono shock at the back. The Thai-spec version gets golden USD forks instead of the telescopic ones.
