Yamaha India came up with the FZ25 streetnaked motorcycle earlier this year. The FZ25 is doing fairly well on the sales charts and now, the manufacturer is close to launching the Fazer 250 full fairing model based on the FZ25. The Yamaha Fazer 250 (Fazer 25) will be to the FZ25 what the Fazer (150cc) is to the FZ16. The upcoming Yamaha motorcycle has been spied completely undisguised. The manufacturer will launch the new motorcycle on August 21. Read on for details on the Yamaha Fazer 250 Launch date, Price in India, Specifications and Mileage. The latest spy images go on to reveal that the Yamaha Fazer 250 will offer ergonomics befitting of a sports-tourer. The handlebar position, the footpeg mounts, the seat – everything hints at a fairly relaxed riding posture. Also, the new fairing should help the Fazer 25 tackle high-speed wind blasts. In terms of dimensions, the new bike is definitely larger than the already brawny Fazer 150cc. Other than a full-fairing and dual-tone paint schemes, the new Yamaha looks almost completely like the FZ25. The side panels, the fuel-tank, the end-can – everything comes from the FZ25. Even the headlamp seems to be the same and the new fairing simply goes on to wrap itself around the existing headlamp cluster. Cost effective? Yes. Quirky? Hell yes!

The new Fazer 250 shares its engine with its street-naked sibling. This means that powering the motorcycle will be a 249cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine that comes mated to a five-speed Manual Transmission. Exact specifications aren’t clear at the moment but Yamaha just might have tweaked the engine to suit the ‘sports-tourer’ format. For the FZ25, this motor offers a maximum power of 20.6 BHP at 8,000 RPM and a peak torque of 20 Nm at 6,000 RPM. Much like the FZ25, even the new Fazer 25 is built around a diamond frame chassis. The new bike gets the same brakes that do duty on the street-naked version. It’s not sure if Yamaha India would offer ABS even as an option. The test mule that has been caught testing doesn’t seem to have ABS. Even the suspension comes from the FZ25, which means you get telescopic forks up front and a mono-shock at the rear. Thanks to the addition of a new fairing, and the metal subframe for mounting purposes, the new model is likely to weigh slightly more than the FZ25’s 148 KGs.
Yamaha Fazer 250 (Fazer 25) Price in India
Minimum | Rs 1.25 lakh |
Maximum | Rs 1.32 lakh |
The Yamaha FZ25 surprised everyone with a very competitive sticker price of just Rs 1.19 lakh (ex-showroom). Hence, it should be safe to hope that even the Fazer 250 won’t have an exorbitant price tag. We’re hoping an increment of up to Rs 13,000, which means the Fazer 25 should cost no more than Rs 1.32 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price point, the Bajaj Pulsar RS200 and the Fazer 25 will be at loggerheads. However, the upcoming Yamaha will be still out of the sportier KTM RC200’s territory. With the Honda CBR250R going out of production, we can surely do with a comfortable entry-level sportstourer that’s high on refinement and offers a comfortable riding posture.

You can safely expect us to update you with information from the launch event.

Yamaha Fazer 250 (Fazer 25) Specifications
Specs | Yamaha Fazer 250 cc |
Engine | 249cc |
No. of Cylinders | 1 |
Max. Power | 20.9 PS @ 8000 rpm |
Peak Torque | 20 Nm @ 6000 rpm |
Fuel Injection | Yes |
Gearbox | 5-speed Manual |
Wet Weight | TBA |
The Fazer 250cc version will share its 249cc, single-cylinder, an air-cooled fuel-injected engine with the FZ25. While we’re hopeful that Yamaha would re-tune the engine to suit the sports-tourer format, there are rather slim chances of a significant change in the specifications. Currently, for the FZ25, this motor outputs a max. power of 20.9 PS @ 8000 RPM and a peak torque of 20 Nm @ 6000 RPM. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed transmission.
Almost all of the mechanical hardware comes from the FZ25. The Fazer 250 gets telescopic shock absorbers at front and a monoshock at the rear. Even the tyres come from the street-naked sibling. It’s not for sure at the moment but Yamaha might end up offering ABS, at least as an option. That said, the test bike that you saw in the images on this page doesn’t seem to have ABS.
Yamaha Fazer 250 Mileage
City | 33 KMPL |
Highway | 38 KMPL |
Yamaha will officially reveal the average mileage figures at the time of the launch. However, going by the kind of fuel economy that the FZ25 offers, it shouldn’t be wrong to hope for similar mileage figures. Yes, the addition of a front fairing is sure to impact the overall mileage of the bike, but not by much. We’re expecting an average mileage of up to 38 KMPL on the highway and around 33 KMPL in the city.
Yamaha Fazer 250 Top Speed
Top Speed (expected) | 150 KMPH* |
Thanks to a sufficiently grunty 249cc engine, the Fazer 25 should have a claimed top speed of around 150 KMPH. However, we don’t expect the top speed to be anything more than 140 KMPH in rear world.
Yamaha Fazer 25 0-100 KMPH
0-100 KMPH | 9-10 Seconds |
Clocking a sub 10 second 0-100 KMPH time should not be an issue for the upcoming Yamaha Fazer 25 (Fazer 250 cc) motorcycle.
Yamaha Fazer 25 Design Review
Following in the footsteps of the FZ and Fazer siblings, the new Fazer 250 will be identical to FZ 25 fuel tank onwards. It will get the same sleek rear with LED taillight and a stubby exhaust. The images of the bike we have here reveal alloy wheels similar to the ones on the FZ25. The Fazer 250 will be a semi-faired bike leaving the engine area exposed. Also, it will be meant for touring purposes based on the fact that it gets a windscreen and tall set handlebars. A fully digital instrument console identical to the FZ25’s will display all relevant info.
Highlights of this bike’s design include-
- Semi faired look
- LED Headlamps
- Chiselled Fuel Tank
