Yamaha India will launch an all-new 250cc motorcycle today. The upcoming Yamaha 250cc will be cheaper than the R3 and will have a streetnaked design. The upcoming 250cc bike could have a starting price of Rs 1.5 Lakh. Powering this bike could be a 249cc, single-cylinder engine from the Brazil-spec Fazer 250. Maximum power and torque will be in tune of 21 PS and 20 Nm. The bike would offer a 6-speed gearbox.
Yamaha has been testing a new streetnaked on Indian public roads since quite sometime now. From the looks of it, the upcoming streetnaked will be a mix-and-match of the MT-03 and the M-Slaz. Speculations are rife that the development of the upcoming Yamaha 250cc bike has taken place in India. India could even become an export hub for the upcoming Yamaha model.

The upcoming Yamaha 250cc bike for India is likely to get the same 249cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled, fuel-injected engine that powers the Fazer 250. For India, this engine will come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Peak power-torque will be 21 PS-20 Nm. This engine will be BSIV-compliant. The bike features 41mm telescopic forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. Both the wheels get a disc brake setup each.

There are rumours that the upcoming Yamaha 250cc bike for India will go on sale under the FZ moniker. Frankly, this bike does look like a Yamaha FZ, albeit, a premium version. There are bits, like the end-can, which have been directly lifted off the FZ. However, the bike carries several design features that seem to have been taken from the MT03 and M-Slaz.
