Mahindra is going out on an EV-launching spree with a slew of new-age electric SUVs in the coming months
The upcoming Mahindra XEV 7e is the electric iteration of the existing XUV700. We have been spotting it on tests for a few months now. Note that the Indian SUV giant already showcased the XEV 9e and BE 6e electric SUVs earlier and the launch is slated in the coming weeks. However, the XEV 7e will be more comparable to the XUV700 because the aforementioned EVs boast a coupe silhouette. The XEV 7e’s trademark images were also leaked a few weeks ago. For now, let us take a look at the details of the latest sighting.
Mahindra XEV 7e Spotted Testing
The specifics of this case stem from Raftaar 7811 on YouTube. The visuals capture a heavily camouflaged electric SUV plying on the roads. Thankfully, we are able to recognize its silhouette to establish that this is the XEV 7e electric SUV. At the front, it gets angular LED headlamps on the extreme edges of the bumper. Additionally, there is a rugged front bumper with prominent and sleek LED DRLs on the sides. The side section is similar to the existing XUV700 which is also true with the tail end. At the rear, the SUV carries large horizontally inclined LED taillamps, a shark fin antenna, a roof-mounted spoiler and a solid bumper.
As per the information in the leaked images from a few weeks ago, the 3-row electric SUV will get a ginormous triple display, something we have seen in the XEV 9e. This includes a digital instrument cluster, an infotainment display and a passenger display. This is generally a part of ultra-high-end luxury vehicles only. It will elevate the premium quotient of the entire cabin. Apart from that, the cabin will be spacious and practical with tons of new-age amenities. It will even get drive modes with single-motor RWD and dual-motor AWD configurations. More details will emerge as the launch nears.
My View
Mahindra is gearing up for an exciting 2025 in terms of expanding its electric portfolio. With this, it wants to challenge the domination of Tata Motors in this category. Note that Mahindra only sells the XUV400 electric SUV currently in our market. Going forward, the new-age INGLO platform-based electric SUVs will make it a global name. The kind of tech, aesthetics and performance these EVs promise is surely world-class. We shall keep an eye out for more details in this regard.
