Launched recently, the Maruti Jimny 5-door compact SUV looks ready to become a popular lifestyle off-roader that could very well eat into the market share of the Mahindra Thar
Earlier this month, we reported how some of the first few Maruti Jimny owners in India have taken the aftermarket route to jazz up their SUVs. While a couple of these mod jobs are worth lakhs, other owners simply slapped on some bigger wheels and wider tires. Irrespective of the nature of the modification, what’s clear is that the 5-door Jimny is fast becoming a favourite of off-roaders and custom car aficionados alike. For instance, the vehicle featured today not just has various custom parts worth lakhs but even has a unique look courtesy an INOZETEK wrap.
Maruti Jimny with Olive Green Wrap
The Olive Green wrap job has been carried out by One Cars, Gurgaon. Meanwhile, the rest of the modifications are courtesy AM Racing, the owners of the SUV. The new colour scheme gives a premium touch to the off-roader while reminding one of the Army-spec Maruti Gypsy. The customiser has gone for a dual-tone look with blacked-out front grille and black-painted roof. These, coupled with the aftermarket Enkei rims, helps this Jimny with a distinct appeal. The only other add-on we can spot are the window visors. Moreover, the mod job has been carried out on the entry-level Zeta trim, as can be made out from the lack of headlamp washers and fog lamps.
Interestingly, the neat wrap job is not the only modification done to this Jimny. It features a handful of performance-enhancing mods worth lakhs. For starters, the custom wheels you see on this SUV are Enkei Japan RPT1 16x6J Zero Inset units wrapped with Continental ContiCrossContact AT 235/70-spec tires. The SUV even boasts Tanabe adjustable suspension kit that allows height and damping adjustments through a 14 click dial. Other custom parts from Tanabe include front and rear adjustable lateral rods, steering damper, and front strut brace. Rounding off the updates is the Fujitsubo axle back exhaust muffler.
What We Think
Overall, all the aforementioned modifications make this Maruti Jimny a one-of-a-kind SUV that not only more capable but arguably, even more handsome than the stock version. The new rims and wide tires along with the gloss wrap make the SUV look more imposing. Furthermore, the adjustable suspension an help one raise the vehicle to enhance the street presence. That said, one needs to understand that the aftermarket mods are often a tricky affair. Firstly, the technicians at the mod shop should be highly skilled and understand the finer nuances of such alterations. And then, there’s a huge risk of the warranty getting void due to the customisation. Many car mods are even illegal in India and can get the vehicle owner in legal trouble. Hence, we request all car owners to understand what they’re getting into before carrying out any major modification on their vehicles.
