Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, the company which gifted Indian Market the car known for its brutal looks as well as power, the Mahindra Scorpio has won the 2010 Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm event in the NDure category. Ever since the Scorpio hit the market it has topped the sales charts of M&M, becoming the flagship model for the company and with another title in hand, the automaker has a reason to celebrate.
Peeping into previous year the Scorpio had also won the Adventure Trial SUV Category of Raid De Himalaya which is supposed to be one of the toughest rallies in the country and came 3rd in the Rally de Sertoes being one of the toughest rallies in the world.
Northern Motorsport in collaboration with Maruti Suzuki organized the 2010 Desert Storm event ending in Udaipur. The route went through the interiors of Rajasthan and Gujarat covering over 3000km with appreciable participation level comprising of 250 participants with 100 cars and 21 bikes. Surprisingly out of 21 cars in the NDure category only 11 managed to cross the finish line with Scorpio winning the title, giving an estimate of how tough the terrains were.
Raj Singh Rathore and Co-driver Dhiraj Arora with their amazing skills drove the winning Scorpio through the finish line after surviving almost every terrain, covering the Aravalis, the Thar Desert and the Great Rann. The most incredible thing about the Scorpio VLX participating in the race was that it did not feature any sort of modifications normally seen in most of the race and rally cars.
