Maruti Jimny 5-door is about to be launched in India on June 7 but the media reviews are out already.
This Maruti Jimny is equipped with an awning tent as a part of the accessories package. Jimny is a hardcore lightweight off-roading SUV which has made a name for itself in the international markets for decades now. However, MSIL (Maruti Suzuki India Limited) knows the mentality of the Indian customers which is why it introduced the 5-door version exclusively in the Indian market, to begin with. Perhaps, it could be exported to other countries from India in times to come. Until then, let us take a look at the capabilities of the SUV along with this optional adventure and camping accessories.

Maruti Jimny With Tent
Our official channel features this video during our media drive of the Jimny a few days ago. The white Jimny is parked outdoors where all the accessories are showcased too. In this video, we focus on this awning tent that can be folded on top of the roof and unfurled when needed. Essentially, it creates a rooftop tent for when you are on off-roading adventures amidst nature. Should you opt for it, it will be installed on the roof and you can climb atop the roof either from the sides or by installing a mini ladder. This is the perfect gear for solo campers.

Specs
Maruti Jimny comes powered by a 1.5-litre K15B naturally aspirated petrol engine making 103 hp and 134 Nm of peak power and torque. There are options of choosing between a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission. It gets Suzuki’s trademark ALLGRIP PRO 4×4 drivetrain with a low-range transfer case and locking differential allowing it to perform hardcore off-roading manoeuvres. The ground clearance is a decent 210 mm and the approach, break-over and departure angles are impressive too. The prices will be revealed on June 7 at the launch ceremony.

What We Think
Jimny, being a hardcore off-roader, allows its buyers to get all the possible equipment for adventures and camping tours. On one hand, the SUV is a tried and tested vehicle (at least in the 3-door guise) across the globe for decades. It will traverse across any terrain on the back of its reliable hardware. On the other hand, one gets the option to choose from a wide range of additional equipment as well. That will further enhance the capabilities of the SUV. It is just a matter of preference and budget. If you want the Jimny for extreme and frequent off-roading excursions, then investing in such accessories makes sense. However, if you are someone who goes off the tarmac once in a blue moon, these official accessories might not be needed.
