Due to the novel coronavirus pandemic and ongoing country-wide lockdown, many big car launches have been delayed for an indefinite period.
Manufacturers like Honda, Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and others had big launches lineup from March to June. Now that the nationwide lockdown has been extended to 3rd May, all the car launches have been delayed without a knowledge of a possible date.
While Hyundai managed to launched the new Creta just before the lockdown and launched the Verna facelift amidst it, its deliveries will commence after it ends. Possibly, the waiting period might be higher than expected due to no ongoing production.
Which 8 Cars Will Be Launched As Soon As The Lockdown Is Over?
1. New Generation Honda City
The new-gen Honda City was scheduled to debut in March but has been delayed. The sedan gets refreshed styling, new features and BS6 compliant engines. It is going to get many premium features like LaneWatch camera, full LED headlamps, hill assist control, six airbags, front parking sensors and more. The engines will remain the same 1.5 Litre petrol and diesel units.
2. Skoda Rapid TSI
The price announcement of Rapid TSI was scheduled for early this month. After unveiling the engine at the Auto Expo 2020, the deliveries of BS6 Rapid were also supposed to start this month. Ditching its older petrol and diesel engines, the sedan now gets a 1.0 Litre three-cylinder turbo petrol, that produces 110 PS.
3. Skoda Karoq
The deliveries of Skoda Karoq were scheduled for the first week of May. The compact-SUV will be priced around Rs 20 Lakhs and will get a 1.5 Litre turbo-petrol engine. It will be a CBU model, available only in a single fully loaded variant.
4. New Generation Hyundai i20
While the launch of new i20 was still a bit far, its unveil was expected to happen this month. Under the hood, the new i20 will get a new diesel and a turbo petrol engine, along with the existing petrol unit. It will get many new features including an electric sunroof and cruise control.
5. BS6 Honda WRV
Just when we were worried about the WRV and Jazz, Honda teased both of them. WRV will get a minor cosmetic facelift along with new BS6 petrol and diesel engines. Possibly, there will be some reshuffling done with the variants.
6. BS6 Honda Jazz
Jazz will also continue with its same petrol and diesel engines in the BS6 era. Just like WRV, even Jazz will get a minor cosmetic facelift. There are chances of new features onboard too.
7. Maruti S-Cross Petrol
Maruti’s last car to be updated to BS6 norms is the S-Cross. It is supposed to get a new 1.5 Litre petrol engine, ditching its 1.3 Litre Multijet diesel engine. Possibly, the prices of S-Cross petrol will be either same or less than the earlier prices with diesel engine.
8. Hyundai Tucson Facelift
After unveiling it at the Auto Expo 2020, Hyundai was going to launch the Tucson facelift in April. Along with minor tweaks on the outside but major tweaks on the inside, the SUV will get BS6 compliant petrol and diesel engines.
