The state tourism department arranged for the Air Force to carry two Mahindra Thar SUVs. The aim is to boost and aid tourism around Kedarnath. Being one of the ‘Char Dhams’, it is one of the most important pilgrimages in North India. Hence, people from all across the regions come here to pay their obeisance to Lord Shiva. However, the long trek can be challenging for a whole lot of worshippers. Hence, there was a need to take care of that.
Additionally, since it is situated in the Himalayas, medical emergencies were hard to cater to. Therefore, the government has started this initiative where these SUVs can be used to carry old, differently abled, and people in need of medical emergencies. This will offer peace of mind to anyone visiting this spiritually charged location. That is what the visuals of the Mahindra Thar emerging out from the back of an Air Force plane indicate. Needless to say, once this facility becomes available, VIPs will also have it at their disposal. But it is not strictly meant for them.
