An aftermarket car modification house has come up with a strange modification of a Toyota Hilux. Basically, the pickup truck has been converted into a, hold your breath, a limousine! Car modification has reached new heights in the Indian car market in recent years. People have access to new ideas from the internet, as well as to spare parts and automobile components from across the globe. Hence, they are able to transform any vehicle into just about any other car. This is a prime example of that. Let us take a look at this weird contraption.
Conversion of Toyota Hilux into Limousine
This post comes from autojournal_india on Instagram. It captures a rather unusual iteration of the Hilux. At the front, it looks pretty much the same as the stock version. It bears a familiar fascia with LED headlamps and a broad grille. In fact, up until the first door, there is nothing odd about it including the alloy wheel design. However, suddenly, you would find extra doors and a considerably extended wheelbase. This makes it a 6-door vehicle with an additional body section, which extends the overall length of this vehicle enormously.
That is not all. Once you reach the rear, there is a cargo bed, similar to the Hilux pickup truck. Hence, this unique contraption captures the essence of a Hilux as well as a stretch limousine. To make the ingress and egress more comfortable, a sturdy side step runs the length of the SUV/truck/limousine. There are no details about how much this costs or how long it took to complete this mod. In any case, this has to be among the strangest car customizations we have seen recently.
Author’s Note
We must admit that this is a unique and impressive car modification. The fit-and-finish also seems to be great, at least in the visuals. However, we hate to play the devil’s advocate here, but all such modifications are illegal in India. You are bound to get fined by the traffic police if they spot you in such a vehicle. You must consult your local RTO before making such customizations. They will let you know which alterations are allowed and which ones fall on the wrong side of the law. Alternatively, you can do something like this as a hobby project which you can’t take on public roads, at least in big cities.
