An old Maruti 800 has been completely transformed into a sportscar. This is one of the biggest modifications that the humble hatchback has ever received.
Maruti 800 was launched back in 1984 and went on to become India’s most popular car till date. No other car till date has made it as big as that humble hatchback. Such was the demand that it had a waiting period of over a year. By 2014, after a couple of generation upgrades, the 800 was discontinued in India as its lifecycle was ending.
Over the years, we have seen many modified versions of it. This one here, is a complete transformation. If we had just seen the image of this modified car, we would actually be confused which is the original one underneath. A mechanic in Madhya Pradesh has done this crazy modification and he has shown the process in the video.

This Maruti 800 has been completely stripped down of its components. The roof has been cut down and even the bonnet is removed. The front doors have been left untouched whereas the back doors have been removed to make it a two-seater sportscar. You can see the guys putting in a completely new bonnet with different colour.
Then you can see that there is a simple mechanism for opening the boot and can also be operated by a button. There’s no soft rooftop, so it remains open all the time. Further, it gets a roof spoiler and a barrier which is just for the showpiece. The alloy wheels, front and rear bumpers have also been completely revamped.
Lastly, it gets aftermarket LED headlamps and LED tail lights. Inside the cabin, there are new seats installed. Otherwise, the interior remains the same as seen on Maruti 800. All these modifications were done by a local garage which costed the owner Rs 90,000 only. However, you can see some panels not fitted properly and driving this modified Maruti 800 at high speed will be very dangerous.
