Jeep introduced the 7-seat version of the Compass in the shape of Meridian and it seems to have even more off-roading capabilities.
This video captures the Jeep Meridian going down a flight of stairs effortlessly. This display of sophisticated off-roading technology comes as a surprise and as a challenge to the sole segment leader at the moment, Toyota Fortuner. Ever since Ford quit manufacturing in India, Endeavour has left a huge vacuum in the full-size 7-seat SUV segment in India. Jeep decided to capitalise on this opportunity and brought in the Meridian. This video showcases its rugged capabilities. Will that be enough to woo buyers away from the mighty Fortuner?

Jeep Meridian Drives Down The Stairs
The video has been uploaded by a YouTuber who finds himself in the official Jeep premises where the carmaker has organised this event. They allow the drivers to take the Meridian on an off-roading adventure that has been developed to test the SUVs. At first, the terrain is relatively easy with a dirt track and small plants. However, it starts getting tougher by the end of it. At one time, the SUV is needed to be taken up a steep ramp with no visibility. The Jeep official sitting as the co-driver is directing the YouTuber to ensure a safe stunt.

The Meridian shows no sign of reluctance and easily traverses up and over the ramp. Interestingly, while descending, the Hill-Descent Mode has been engaged and the driver takes his foot off the brake pedal. The SUV automatically glides down the slope with just the steering input from the driver. Finally, the Meridian is taken down a flight of stairs where the Hill-Descent Control again comes into play. Throughout the course of this excursion, the SUV showed no sign of hesitation anywhere and took on the challenges head-on.
