Here is a quick demonstration video of how the Semi-Autonomous parking assist system works on the upcoming MG Gloster.
MG Gloster has been unveiled for the market, with all its details, features and specifications also out. That also says that our detailed 20 minute long review of the Gloster is out as well! The XL size SUV will be priced around 40 Lakhs (Ex-showroom), making it a costlier but better competitor for Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner.
One of the most premium feature of the Gloster is the semi-autonomous parking assist. It is a feature that is now seen in many cars that are priced above Rs 30 Lakhs. It is still a feature that cannot be used in most parts of the country due to parking constraints. However, here’s a quick demo of it!

First, you have to reduce your speed down to 10 km/hr. Then press the parking assist button and let the sensors find you a suitable space. You can also choose your parking space and then activate. Once the space is detected, the system will notify you to either slot into rear or forward, depending on your direction.
The semi autonomous parking assist will only control the steering wheel and acceleration. You have to change the gears and apply the brakes by yourself. Once set, the car will automatically use the steering wheel and if needed, will tell you to slot gears. Mostly, reverse parking is only done on parking assist.
One major downside to this is that if there’s a lot of space behind or in the front, the car might just increase its parking speed. That will definitely scare the driver. The biggest advantage of it is that many drivers – experienced or inexperienced – find difficulty in parallel parking. For them, this is a boon but only if you live in a place where there’s systematic parking.
