In the Himalayan regions of India, we keep coming across such situations on a daily basis throughout the winter season
In this post, we take a look at a Force Gurkha rescuing a Mahindra Thar in thick snow. Gurkha is one of the most renowned off-roading SUVs in the country. Similarly, Thar is the ultimate iconic off-roader. Both these have immense reverence from adventure enthusiasts in India. These two have been the go-to choices for a whole bunch of thrill seekers for years now. Hence, spotting these two in extreme weather and terrain conditions is not uncommon. For now, let us take a look at the details of this case.
Force Gurkha Rescue Mahindra Thar in Snow
This video stems from Raftaar 7811 on YouTube. The visuals capture a rather interesting situation. A Force Gurkha, belonging to the Himachal Pradesh Police, is seen pulling a Mahindra Thar amidst thick snow. As per the information by the host of the video, this Thar is a rear-wheel-drive SUV. That is the reason it is struggling so much to gain traction on the slippery surface. Perhaps, this is too extreme an environment for the RWD Thar. On top of that, it bears the registration number of Delhi. This means that the occupants are tourists and don’t have enough expertise to drive in such environments.
Thankfully, the video showcases the Himachal Pradesh Police coming to the location, towing the Thar and pulling it to safety. This is something we witness each year. The authorities have to be vigilant for such rescue operations. Tourists often think that they will get away with it regardless of how severe the situation will get by watching some videos online. However, the reality is much different and often unforgiving. This should serve as an example of how not to get in such precarious and perilous predicaments. I urge our readers to be serious about these things to ensure their safety.
My View
It is common for people to take their SUVs to Himalayan regions during peak winters. They often think that they will have a lot of fun and adventure in the snow. However, I must mention that these are extremely dangerous situations, particularly if you get stranded. Therefore, you must avoid such excursions, especially if you have no local support. The temperatures drop way below -10 degrees during the night time in higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh. That could spell danger if you are not adequately equipped. This includes clothing and the right vehicle with an experienced driver.
