In order to shorten the waiting period on cars like the Maruti Brezza, WagonR and Dzire, the largest carmaker in the country has expanded its Manesar (Haryana) plant’s capacity by 100,000 units per annum. Maruti Suzuki has been the market leader in India since its inception. Despite around a dozen new carmakers entering the mass market scene, it still continues to hold over 40% market share in this burgeoning automobile market. In order to cope with the demand, it has increased the production capacity by 1 lakh units per annum.
Waiting Period for Maruti Brezza, WagonR, Dzire to Go Down
At this Manesar plant, Maruti Suzuki produces Brezza, Ertiga, XL6, WagonR, Dzire, S-Presso, Ciaz and Celerio. Almost all of these are segment leaders in their respective categories. Hence, with the addition of a new assembly line in Plant A at Manesar, we could see the waiting periods on these vehicles go down in the coming days. With this new assembly line, the total manufacturing capacity of the Manesar plant is an impressive 900,000 units per year. This is in line with Maruti’s plans of taking the capacity to 4 million vehicles per annum in the next 7-8 years.
In fact, on this occasion, Maruti Suzuki India Managing Director & CEO Hisashi Takeuchi said, “We aim to nearly double our capacity to 4 million vehicles per annum over the next 7-8 years and this capacity addition of 100,000 vehicles per year is a step towards this goal.” Hence, the carmaker has concrete plans to keep up with the needs of the growing Indian market.
