VW India is offering some pretty enticing discounts on its two most popular products, Taigun and Virtus. These cars are attracting a whole lot of buyers. Under VW Group’s India 2.0 strategy, these two vehicles started a new era for the German auto giant. In fact, its MQB A0 IN platform underpins the Skoda cars as well. It is a highly localised platform enabling the car marque to reduce initial and maintenance costs. That was a major concern for a whole bunch of people looking to buy Skoda or VW cars in our country. VW Taigun
Taigun is the Creta-rivalling mid-size SUV in the VW lineup. It belongs to one of the most rapidly expanding categories in the country. At the moment, one could get the SUV at a discount of Rs 1.60 lakh. This includes a Rs 1 lakh cash discount and a Rs 60,000 exchange bonus. Note that this offer is valid only for the 1.5-litre variants.

VW Virtus
Then we have the VW Virtus, which is a premium mid-size sedan. It rivals the giants of the category including Hyundai Verna, Honda City and its own sibling, Skoda Slavia. Volkswagen India is offering a cash discount of Rs 1 lakh and an exchange bonus of Rs 40,000 on the sedan. Just like the Taigun, these offers are valid only for the larger 1.5-litre trims.

Specs
Both VW Taigun and Virtus share the powertrain options. These include a punchy 1.0-litre TSI turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre EVO turbo petrol mill. The former generates a decent 115 PS / 178 Nm, while the latter outputs an impressive 150 PS / 250 Nm of peak power and torque respectively. Both these engines get a 6-speed manual but the smaller version gets a torque converter automatic while the larger variant has the 7-speed DSG (DCT) automatic gearbox. The Taigun retails between Rs 11.62 lakh and Rs 19.46 lakh, ex-showroom while the Virtus ranges from Rs 11.48 lakh to Rs 18.77 lakh, ex-showroom.
