The Toyota Fortuner might just have got a new rival in the recently launched VW Tiguan in India. The full-size SUV market that was dominated by two players, Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour, saw a couple of other players entering but not quite achieving that level of success as these two. But now that the Endeavour is gone and Fortuner costing a Fortune, a vacuum might have opened up which VW is looking to capitalise on. Let us take a look at the details of the German SUV.

VW Tiguan – Exterior
The exteriors of this premium mid-size SUV represents the VW design heritage that is simply legendary. The front features a chrome grille that neatly integrates into the Matrix LED IQ Lights, LED DRLs, chrome garnish on the bumper along sporty skid plate at the front. The sides wear the characteristic creases, body cladding, 18-inch alloy wheels, chrome surround on the windows and roof rails. The rear features a Tiguan moniker on the boot lid along with LED taillamps with distinct patterns. All in all, this Tiguan has modern bits with a traditional silhouette.

The interiors of the new Tiguan are high quality and all black-themed. VW Tiguan – Specifications
The VW Tiguan comes with the renowned 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine that outputs 190 PS and 320 Nm of peak power and torque respectively. This engine is mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox and the power is sent to all four wheels using the 4MOTION technology. The Tiguan is available in a single fully-loaded “Elegance” trim. The introductory price for the 2021 VW Tiguan is Rs 31.99 lakh, ex-showroom. For comparison, the top trim of the Fortuner costs Rs 42.33 lakh, ex-showroom.
