Multiple social media users have been found posting that the Pune-based Volkswagen dealer has quoted a price range of Rs 11 lakh to Rs 22 lakh to be the price of the upcoming VW Taigun. While the former is the base ex-showroom price, the latter is the on-road cost of the top-end variant. Taigun is supposed to be the make-or-break product for the German carmaker in India. Moreover, the first lot of cars has started reaching the dealerships and as can be seen below, the compact SUV looks stunning in the ‘carbon steel grey’ shade.
Based on the MQB A0 IN platform, which is specifically designed for our market, Taigun is set to give tough competition to its competitors in the mid-size SUV segment. The high levels of localization have ensured competitive pricing as well as low maintenance, service and repair costs. This was the biggest issue with VW products in the past. Customer service experience is something VW is taking seriously. They don’t want to keep any stone unturned in establishing the Volkswagen brand in our market for a long time. But what will be the price range of the VW Taigun once it launches? Here is some news on that.

According to several members of the VW Taigun India Owners Facebook group, they have been notified by BU Bhandari, the Volkswagen dealership in Pune, about an entry-level ex-showroom price of Rs 11 lakh for the VW Taigun. The on-road price of the top-spec variant will allegedly come out to be Rs 22 lakh. The actual prices will be announced on September 23, when the car is officially launched in the market. The member also claims that this information is reliable since he got the call from the Senior Management team. They also explained to him the variants on offer (1.0 and 1.5-litre TSI). If these stats turn out to be true, then it will make the starting price of the Taigun higher than the competition by quite some margin. Now, we know that VW products always come at a premium, but this might stretch it too far.
