User reports reveal the quality compromise by VW-Skoda on the Polo models. Let’s take a look at the comparison between an old vs new Polo.
VW & Skoda are known for their build quality. However, new user reports claim that the new Polo does not match up with the decade-old model. Many users often upgrade to the latest model of their current car. A 10-year-old Polo 1.2 TDi owner recently dropped this idea as the quality of the new model is significantly worse. Let’s take a closer look at the areas that have declined in quality.

As per a report claiming to be based on user feedback, the seat foam in a 1-year-old 4k driven demo car showed a significant subside than a 10-year-old car. The Steering feedback is now made in Rane Madras (instead of Germany). The TVS Girling braking is worse than FS-III calipers. The alloy wheel bends are also made in India Portago R16 (instead of Made in Spain 7-spoke R15 alloy wheels). The thickness of the sheet metal has also been reduced by VW. You also get a bench seat in the new one, instead of plit rear seat in older versions.
The oil-filled suspension job by Gabriel in India also does not match up to Gas-filled made in Germany. There have been many stories of suspension bearings squeaking within months of purchase. The interiors are also made of hard plastics now. Even the door armrests are not covered in fabric. Even the chrome logo part seems to be fading out in the newer models. Overall, the finishing in the new models does not match up to older versions. However, we need to test out the features in real-world environments

The Volkswagen Polo is now priced at Rs 6.45 lakh – Rs 10.25 lakh (ex-showroom pan-India). It comes in four trims: Trendline, Comfortline, Highline Plus, and GT. The 1-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine offers 75PS and 95Nm of peak power and torque It is paired to a 5-speed MT transmission. The 1-liter turbo-petrol outputs 110PS and 175Nm. It comes with a standard 6-speed MT and an optional 6-speed AT. Additional features include cruise control, auto AC with rear AC vents, rain-sensing wipers, a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, rear parking sensors, and dual front airbags.
