Volkswagen has launched a new Limited Edition VW Polo Legend in India. However, it also marks the end of the popular car.
Despite being a popular car, the Volkswagen Polo has reached the end of production in India. The company has been offering the fifth-gen Polo since 2010. It breathed life into the hot-hatch segment in the Indian market and sold more than 3 lakh units. The Polo was the first locally manufactured model at the Volkswagen India’s Chakan plant in Pune. The made-in-India hatchback was also one of the first to offer dual airbags as a standard. It even received a 4-star Global NCAP safety rating in 2014. As the VW Polo bds adieu to India, it has released a heart-warming note. Let’s take a look!

In a sweet farewell note, Polo remembers its launch at the Auto Expo 2010. The German model also thanked the engineers, dealerships, service team, and customers. It also passed the baton to its SUVW and sedan siblings. “Keep teh fun of driving alive and keep me in your hearts,” the note reads. Additionally, a Volkswagen Polo Legend edition has been launched to mark the 12-year journy in the Indian market. “The Volkswagen Polo has been the brands’ much-loved product that deserves a grand celebration. For this, the brand is introducing the celebratory limited Legend edition for the enthusiasts who will take pride in owning the last limited units of the iconic Polo“, said Ashish Gupta, Brand Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India.

The Volkswagen Polo Legend edition is based in the GT TSI trim (top-end, performance-spec). It comes with a price tag of Rs 10.25 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Only 700 units of the limited edition model will be available. It can be purchased at all 151 Volkswagen dealerships across India. The special edition car is powered by a 1.0-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine that produces 108 bhp of power and 175 Nm of peak torque. It is paired with a 6-speed automatic torque converter unit. The new car looks identical to the regular GT TSI variants.
