This is proof that modern Maruti Suzuki cars are good enough to change the image of the largest carmaker in the country with regard to safety
In this post, I shall describe an incident involving a VW Polo and a Maruti Grand Vitara. We know that VW cars are known globally for their safety prowess. However, Maruti Suzuki cars didn’t have that image. That is why the full 5-star safety rating of the Dzire at the Global NCAP was a huge feather in Maruti’s cap. This proved that it is capable of offering vehicles with world-class safety amenities. Now, even though the official results of the crash test for the Grand Vitara are not out yet, the real-life incidents surely showcase positive signs.
VW Polo Hits Maruti Grand Vitara
The images of this case stem from GRAND VITARA Club India on Facebook. An anonymous user posted two photos of the accident. With these images, he wrote that a “Polo hit in my grand vitara from the wrong side but thankfully i comeout from my car without any scrach.” When you look at the images, it becomes clear that the front section of the Polo has been damaged significantly. It must’ve rammed into the side section of the Grand Vitara with huge force. Still, what impresses me the most is that the SUV has not sustained too much damage.
Furthermore, the man confirms that he was able to come out of the Grand Vitara without any injury at all. That is a testament to the build quality of the cabin of the SUV. While both vehicles have deformations in the body, the Polo certainly seems to be on the worse end of it. In any case, we must understand that the safety ratings alone are not the only criteria to judge the build quality of a car. Furthermore, there is no substitute for safe driving.
My View
Maruti Suzuki has been the largest carmaker in the country for decades now. People prefer its products for high mileage, low running and maintenance costs, competitive prices, ease of service and availability of spare parts and the number of touchpoints across the country. Now that its latest breed of cars is also offering top-notch safety ratings, we will definitely see the continued attraction towards these cars.
