Volvo has launched the XC90 T8 Excellence in India. It becomes the country’s first plug-in hybrid SUV. The Excellence trim is also the most luxurious trim Volvo offers on its cars. Volvo has priced the new XC90 T8 Hybrid at Rs. 1.25 crore ex-showroom Delhi. Volvo dealerships are currently accepting bookings for the XC90 T8. Officials say they’re hoping to deliver the first batch by the end of 2016. Volvo will also send technicians to install two charging points the customer’s desired locations. “The XC90 T8 Excellence sets industry benchmarks for environment friendly efficiency and emissions while enveloping customers in first-class Swedish luxury. The Volvo XC90’s T8 Hybrid powertrain consists of the 2.0 L 4 cylinder petrol engine that benefits from turbocharging and supercharging and an electric motor. This combination puts out a total maximum power of 407 hp while peak torque stands at 640 Nm. Transmission duties are taken care of by an 8-speed automatic. The 407 hp and 640 Nm on tap propel the XC90 T8 to 100 km/h from a stand still in just 5.6 seconds. A full charge takes about 2.5 hours giving an all-electric range of 40 km.
