We have been much under anticipation for the all new small car from Volkswagen, the Volkswagen Up and finally the manufacturer has unveiled the very car just ahead of the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. The official images of the car have been released and very soon it will be produced in front of the masses.
Earlier we have talked much about its launch date and all, so today we will be making you familiar with the features and technical specifications of the same. To start with, the Up will be positioned below the Volkswagen Polo as it is way smaller and is an entry level hatchback.
Quite similar to Tata Nano, the Up will be offered in three different variants, Take Up Move Up and High Up, suiting budgets of people belonging to different classes. Further at the launch the High Up will be offered in two sub variants, Up Black and Up White. Technically it gets two new generation three cylinder engines which output 60 PS and 75 PS respectively.
Using the BlueMotion Technology, which also features a Start Stop System, the cars deliver impressive fuel consumptions of 23.8 KMPL and 23.2 KMPL for the 60 PS and 75 PS version respectively.
One can also get an optional City Emergency Braking system which is active under 30 KMPH and with the help of a laser sensor it detects the possibility of an imminent collision and reduces the severity of the accident by automatically applying the brakes.

The space utilization on the inside is really good and in spite of being of one of the smallest cars in the world, with all four passengers seated it does not feel cramped at all. The interior is very stylish , contemporary and neat and also offers best in class quality.
For infotainment, the car features a PID a.k.a Portable Infotainment Device which is economical and organizes navigation, telephone, information and entertainment areas. In collaboration with Navigon, one of the world’s leading suppliers of navigation system, the company came up with a new maps system affordable enough for all classes of buyers.
The car is terrifically promising as there is no way I could find any flaws and certainly we do await its launch in India, expected to happen in 2012 or by 2013.
