Volkswagen has recalled units of Polo GT, Vento and Jetta for voluntary inspection and repairs. The recall was announced on 15th September. Check out all the details ahead.
Volkswagen India has recalled many units of Polo GT, Vento and Jetta. The Polo GT 1.5 Litre and Vento 1.5 Litre get some unspecified updates to their manual transmissions. The 2016 Jetta 1.6 Litre gets carbon-canister O-rings replacement. The Jetta will get the replacement only after inspection if it is required. Polo models manufactured between 1st April 2016 to 31st March 2017 are affected. Vento models manufactured between 1st April 2015 to 31st March 2016 are affected. All the Jetta models manufactured in 2016 are affected.

Volkswagen had announced the recall on September 15th. The dealers will call the affected vehicles and will notify their owners. After inspection, if needed, the O-rings will be replaced. For Polo GT and Vento, the transmission upgrade process is necessary. It will take approx 30 minutes for the entire process and will happen for free of cost.
Customers can also check online if their car is affected. They have to submit their 17-character alpha-numeric Vehicle Identification Numb Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on their official website. Also, the customers can directly contact Volkswagen Customer Customer care centre at 1800 102 0909 or 1800 209 0909.

Currently, Volkswagen Polo is one of the best selling in their entire lineup. The hatchback comes in two options – Standard Polo and Polo GT. The Polo uses a 1.0 Litre MPi and 1.5 Litre TDI diesel engines. The GT uses a 1.2 Liter petrol engine and the same 1.5-litre diesel engine.
The 1.2 Litre petrol engine produces 103 BHP of power and 175 Nm of torque. The 1.5 Litre diesel engine produces 90 BHP of power and a whopping 230 Nm of torque. The 1.0 Litre petrol engine produces 75 BHP of power and 96 Nm of torque. For transmission, the Polo GT petrol engine comes with a 7-speed DSG gearbox and the diesel one gets a 5-speed manual gearbox. In the standard Polo, only a 5-speed manual gearbox is on offer.

Features onboard the Polo include cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, auto air cooling, Electric ORVMs, Touchscreen infotainment system, rear parking sensors and more. The GT gets more features such as cooled glove box, Electronic Stabilisation Programme, Hill-Hold control and more.
The Volkswagen Polo starts from Rs 5.53 Lakhs and goes up to Rs 8.90 Lakhs. The Polo GT starts from Rs 9.33 Lakhs (prices ex-showroom Delhi).
