A strong ideology started by Maruti Suzuki and being followed by other brands here in India is of providing additional storage space in the form of boot in hatchbacks. The first such car is the Maruti Swift Dzire and we know pretty well how successful the car is.
In fact the success has motivated the brand to bring an under 4 meters Dzire soon. The car inspired other brands to do the same with their small cars as well and then Volkswagen came up with Volkswagen Vento, a Volkswagen Polo based sedan, and the recent Skoda Rapid from Skoda, which is a stretched version of Skoda Fabia.

Volkswagen fans in Malaysia will soon see Volkswagen Vento in nearby dealerships as Paul Tan, a Malaysian blog, has reported of a shipment of Ventos lined-up at a port in Malaysia. The line-up constitutes mostly of black, grey, white and silver models.

Unlike the name Vento given here, the car will be called as Polo saloon in Malaysia. Since there is not much demand for diesel engines in Malaysia, 1.6 Litre MPI MPFI petrol engine will be exported to the country. This is the same engine that does duty in India and Russia. The 1.6 MPI petrol delivers 105 BHP of max power and 153 @ 3800 RPM of peak torque.

I believe alike India the car will be a hit in Malaysia as well and will help the brand grow more.
