Volkswagen is emerging as a great player in the domestic market and undoubtedly it is working even harder to extract more sales out of our market. As a part of this new strategy Volkswagen has been actively working on a petrol version of its not so popular yet competent sedan, Volkswagen Jetta, and as per the latest news the car could get launched during the month of April this year.
The new Jetta will solve two purposes, firstly it will expand the current range thereby giving buyers one extra option to consider and secondly will act as a cheaper option which could be considered by buyers who are willing to buy the car but wanted it to be a little cheaper.

Let us start with the looks first. Inevitably the Jetta petrol will borrow its looks from the diesel variant with probably nothing unique about it except for the TSI badge at the rear. In fact on the interior too the Jetta petrol will look alike the Jetta diesel.
Features wise, all those high-end features that come with the diesel version will definitely be carried over to the petrol variant. Expected features are as follows: Leatherette seat upholstery , Leather package for steering wheel, gear shift knob, hand brake grip, Front center armrest with storage box, Storage compartments on headliner , Rear AC vents for comfort, Driver’s seat height adjustments for better drivability, Lockable and illuminated glove compartment, Multi-function display.
On the comfort side the car could offer :12 way electrically adjustable driver seat, RCD 510 touch screen music system with CD player, Aux-in & 8 speakers, Cruise control, Park distance with acoustic warning and display of front infotainment , Climatic air conditioner, Front seat with height adjustment for better visibility etc.
For the engine there are a number of speculations that follow the car. Nothing confirmed though, the car is likely to be powered by a 1.4 litre turbocharged petrol unit that will produce 120 BHP of max power. Earlier Skoda Laura’s 1.8 litre engine was being considered but since the 1.4 litre unit delivers power and fuel economy both at the same time, the former has been ruled out.
In order to defeat other competitors like Skoda Laura, Honda Civic, Renault Fluence, and Toyota Corolla Altis, the company has to price it very aggressively and the expectation is that the Jetta will be priced between Rs.12.8 and Rs.16 lakhs. For more updates on the same please stay tuned.
