Volkswagen has officially revealed the new Volkswagen Beetle 2012 before the Shanghai auto show of 2011. The New model of Volkswagen Beetle looks refreshed with the same iconic styling and larger engine options and dimensions. Some of the new features of the Volkswagen 2012 over the older model are:

- In-built Navigation System
- Ambient lighting
- Panoramic sunroof
- Fender Premium audio system
- 18- or 19-inch wheels
- Keyless access
- New engine options- 2.5L gasoline five cylinder, the 2.0L TDI Clean Diesel and the 2.0L TSI turbocharged gasoline engine
- Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual or optional 6-speed DSG Gearbox automatic transmission
- The 2012 Beetle 2.0L TDI is the most fuel-efficient Beetle in all generations of Beetle
- 2.0L TDI Clean Diesel engine produces 140 BHP and 320Nm of torque
