Following the updates to the Polo and the Vento, Volkswagen has secretly launched the Ameo GT-Line with similar set of visual updates but no interior or mechanical changes.
Volkswagen just launched the Polo and Vento facelifts yesterday in India. With this update, Volkswagen has only very subtly added some styling ques to both the cars to make them just a little bit more desirable. What Volkswagen did even more silently is that they have launched a GT-Line trim for the Ameo compact sedan and has been priced at Rs. 9.90 lakhs, ex-showroom.
The GT-Line trim for the Ameo compact sedan is available only on the Highline diesel automatic variant and has been priced at Rs 9.99 lakhs (all-India ex-showroom). Just like its sister cars, this too is only a minor cosmetic makeover. The Ameo GT-Line gets blacked out ORVMs, spoiler and roof.
Also, just like in the Polo and the Vento, the Ameo gets GT-Line decals on the sides and gun-metal grey alloy wheels. The Ameo GT-Line is available in three shades – red, white and blue. Although the Ameo gets the new fog lamps from the other two cars, the honeycomb mesh seen on the grille and bumpers of the Polo and the Vento have been given a miss here.

On the interiors again, just like its sister cars, there is absolutely no change at all. The diesel automatic variant being the top-of-the-line model already comes pretty well equipped with cooled glovebox, cruise control, height-adjustable driver’s seat and automatic climate control and the touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and front and rear arm rests.

As for the engine under the hood, it is powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel producing 109bhp/250Nm and mated to a seven-speed DSG. That said, Volkswagen has been holding up the launch of the next-gen Polo and Vento in India for a laong time now. And possibly with a new Polo and vento, there could be a new Ameo as well. Its been quite some time that these cars have been doing rounds in our country with only minor updates over time but we have long been waiting for the next-generation of these cars.
