We have witnessed countless instances of Mahindra XUV700 owners misusing ADAS functions often resulting in terrible consequences.
In a shockingly bizarre video, a vlogger sleeps while his Mahindra XUV700 drives itself at high speed on a highway. XUV700 is a premium mid-size SUV that comes with a 5 or 7-seater arrangement. It is one of the most popular SUVs in the country ever since its launch. It still commands huge waiting periods for some models in some cities. This is a testament to how well it has been received by the public. However, the ADAS feature it comes with has been constantly misused by the owners. In some cases, that has resulted in horrific crashes.

Vlogger Sleeps in Moving Mahindra XUV700
The video has been uploaded as a vlog by Vishal Rathee on YouTube. He is a new YouTuber and posts vlogs about his personal life. In this video, he is showing his journey from his house to a new place. He packs the bags and takes his father along. During the course of his journey, he is mostly on a well-marked Agra-Lucknow Expressway. The video description mentions that he drove the SUV with ADAS for around 600 km. However, what is concerning about this is the fact that he is pretending to be asleep as the SUV drives itself using Adaptive Cruise Control.

He is showcasing throughout the video how he doesn’t give inputs to the steering or pedals and the SUV maintains the pre-set speed automatically. That is fine but it is advised to never let go of the steering wheel and one must always keep his/her eyes on the road. The ADAS functions are only offered to aid the driver, not replace him/her. In this video, he has closed his eyes and his father is recording the video while the SUV is travelling at 120 km/h. This is extremely dangerous and must not be imitated by anyone.

What We Think
We lose thousands of lives in road accidents each year in our country. The most common reasons for these are overspeeding and careless driving, where the drivers deliberately flout the traffic rules. As a result, some crashes could easily have otherwise been avoided. In fact, we have seen multiple occasions where accidents have occurred in Mahindra XUV700 when people were misusing ADAS. There are seen playing cards in some videos, eating food and even sitting in the passenger seat, as the SUV drives itself. All these idiotic acts are a recipe for disaster and must be avoided at all costs. Make sure to encourage everyone around you to follow traffic rules and report miscreants who are risking the lives of everyone.
