The electric vehicle industry in India is growing by leaps and bounds as we get ready for new foreign carmakers
In this post, we are comparing the upcoming Vinfast VF7 to the existing Kia EV6 on the basis of specs, features, design, etc. Vinfast is a Vietnamese car marque which is currently expanding its footprint across the globe. Outside of Southeast Asia, it already sells cars in the U.S. With its operations slated to commence in India later this year with the VF7, it aims to grab a chunk of the 3rd largest car market globally. It will be interesting to see how well the Indian customers respond to this new brand. On the other hand, Kia is the most successful foreign carmaker in the country in terms of reaching 1 million (10 lakh) sales the fastest. It did so in just 59 months. Clearly, it knows the Indian sensibilities and offers products accordingly. That has made the EV6 already a popular car. For now, let us glance at the details of these two here.
Vinfast VF7 vs Kia EV6 – Specs
Let us first start with the new vehicle, the Vinfast VF7. It was on display at the recently concluded Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. In the international markets, the mid-size premium electric SUV comes in two variants – Eco and Plus. These comprise of a single-motor FWD and dual-motor AWD configuration, respectively. The EV wears a decent 75.3 kWh battery pack with a claimed range of over 450 km on a single charge. That is a decent range. Apart from that, the power and torque figures range from 201 hp / 310 Nm to 348 hp / 500 Nm, respectively. Interestingly, there is also a base trim in the international market which uses a 59.6 kWh battery pack and produces 174 hp and 250 Nm. It has a range of 375 km on a single charge (WLTP). It will interesting to see whether Vinfast offers the VF7 with both these options.
On the other hand, the Kia EV6 is also an attractive vehicle when it comes to specifications. Note that it uses the same E-GMP architecture from Hyundai which underpins the Ioniq 5 and a bunch of other Hyundai and Kia EVs across the globe. The electric crossover carries a 77.4 kWh Lithium-ion battery which can feed either a single-motor RWD or a dual-motor AWD drivetrain. In these scenarios, the power and torque figures range from 229 PS / 350 Nm to 325 PS / 605 Nm, respectively. These are some impressive numbers for a vehicle of EV6’s size. It uses a 350 kW DC ultra-fast charger which allows the battery to go from 10% to 80% in a mere 18 minutes. However, the more important aspect is the 528 km WLTP range on a single charge. That will entice a whole range of buyers. In the most aggressive settings, the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h comes up in just 5.2 seconds. It clearly has an edge over the VF7.

Design and Dimensions
This is where the two EVs differ significantly. The Vinfast VF7 bears a typical design language which is unlike any other vehicle out there. It will certainly ensure that the car makes heads turn everywhere it goes. The VF7 possesses a rather unique front fascia with a connected LED light strip which runs the width of the face at the end of the bonnet, while the main headlamps are located on the extreme edges with LED DRLs and a prominent housing along with contoured grille and other metallic elements lower down. On the sides, you will witness flush-fitting door handles, black side pillars, faux roof rails, massive wheel arches with rugged side body cladding and dual-tone aero-optimized alloy wheels. Eventually, the tail end is also modern with elements like a shark fin antenna, a roof-mounted spoiler, slim LED taillamps connected via a light panel, gloss black elements on the boot lid and a sporty bumper.
On the other hand, the Kia EV6 doesn’t possess an imposing SUV-ish outlook, but that of a rather sophisticated crossover. At front section, the EV has an aerodynamically flowing bonnet with contours, a sleek LED headlamp cluster with integrated LED DRLs, and a subtle bumper section with rugged black elements. On the sides, you will experience elegant aero-optimized alloy wheels neatly encapsulated in prominent wheel arches with tiny side body skirting. Also, the black slide pillars and flush-fitting door handles enhance the premium quotient. Completing the exterior appearance is a shark fin antenna at the rear along with a noticeable LED strip which runs the width of the car installed on an extended bootlid. All in all, the EV looks stunning.
