VinFast is a Vietnamese auto giant that has been in the process of expanding its footprint in various international markets
Vinfast has officially shared its latest TVC to offer us a glimpse of what to expect from its India operations. We witnessed some models from Vinfast at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in New Delhi in January. The company promised that it will start its India operations very soon. In fact, in the last couple of years, we know that it has been scouting the landscape to set up a manufacturing plant. All these instances make it clear that it is confident about starting to sell cars in the 3rd largest market in the world.
Vinfast Releases New TVC
We are able to witness this trailer courtesy of VinFast India on YouTube. The visuals capture the video clips of the multiple models from VinFast. Admittedly, it is not clear which of these will make it to our shores. Nevertheless, the video demonstrates 5 models – VF5, VF6, VF7, VF8 and VF9. All of these are electric SUVs of varying sizes. Clearly, this is the entire VinFast family which the company sells in many parts of the world. For the Indian market specifically, we can expect the VF7 mid-size SUV to be the first product that will go on sale, perhaps by the end of this year.
In general, we see an almost similar design language on all vehicles in the commercial. That has been the trait of the Vietnamese auto giant. It wants to ensure that its cars are instantly recognizable and carry unique styling in comparison to any other car out there. Apart from that, there are multiple battery pack options to choose from. Hence, it can play around with the pricing. Finally, the interior of these cars (as per the international models) is quite modern and premium. The customers can expect the latest tech, convenience, safety and connectivity amenities.
My View
Interestingly, the Vietnamese carmaker also hinted at the pint-sized VF3 and the VF6 to be the other two models planned for our market. It is evident that VinFast will experiment with a couple of models at different price points to establish itself here in the beginning. Depending on how well things go, it will introduce the other products in the subsequent years. We know that the Indian market is one of the most challenging in the world. That is why many carmakers have even left the country. Hence, VinFast will need to ensure that it does a thorough market research and positions its EVs accordingly.
