The Piaggio Group has come up with the new Vespa Red Edition. Basically, Vespa has joined hands with RED to fight AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis in India. The new Vespa Red Edition has an ex-showroom Rs 87,009 (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The renowned Italian scooter company will donate the money generated from the purchase of every Vespa RED to the Global Fund. RED foundation has partnered with companies like Apple Inc, American Express, Starbucks, Armani, and the Coca Cola company. Up to 50% of the profits earned from the sale of RED branded products go to Global Fund to help as many as 70 million people across the world. RED came into existence back in 2006 and was founded by U2 frontman Bono and activist Bobby Shriver.
Internationally, the iconic scooter manufacturer sells the Vespa 946 RED for this noble cause. The RED model on sale in India, however, is based on the VXL 125 variant. Speaking on the launch of the new Vespa RED edition, Diego Graffi, Managing Director and CEO of Piaggio Vehicles Private Limited (PVPL) said,”It is a matter of great pride for us to introduce the VESPA RED in the country. The iconic Vespa is a socially responsible brand and has always given back to society in supporting similar causes in other geographies. Through this association in India, we aim to provide an environment where people are better equipped to fight preventable and treatable diseases.”
