It’s called the Vespa 946 Dior Special Edition which has been built in collaboration with fashion house Christian Dior. The detailing on this scooter, particularly the oblique patterns and gold accents, are just stunning.
The Vespa Scooter certainly has become a style statement over the years. The iconic design is timeless and even with the most simplest of lines, the Vespa gets you drooling over it. Just a few days ago, we reported to you with a Vespa that was built in association with Giorgio Armani and now, Piaggio has collaborated with yet another fashion house to build another special edition Vespa. This Vespa has been built in collaboration with fashion house Christian Dior and its called the 946 Dior Special Edition Scooter.
Just like the Vespa that was built with Giorgio Armani, the base for this project is also Vespa’s flagship 946 Scooter which was handed over to Dior’s Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri. And the results were stunning. The 946 Dior Special Edition comes painted in a pale beige color and the details are fascinating. There are gold trim pieces all around with blue leather for the seats and the handle grip covers. The mechanical parts at the base of the scooter including the exhaust pipe come painted in black.
One of the most fascinating features on this Vespa 946 Dior Special Edition would be the stripes on the front mudguard, fender, tail section and on the under side of the floating seat. These stripes come adorned with Dior’s iconic oblique pattern. The design has been used here as a homage to Dior’s former creative director Marc Bohan who created the design pattern way back in 1967. Since then, it has become Dior’s trademark and can be found in almost all of their products.

This 946 Dior Special Edition also gets custom-made accessories like a custom top box and a half face helmet which get the same detailing of the oblique patterns and gold trimmings. The custom top box has been made to fit perfectly on the rear gold rack. Underneath all these glitz and glamour, this Vespa is powered by the same 125cc motor which puts out 11.5PS of power. Some mechanical highlights of the scooter would include disc brakes at both ends with ABS, all-LED lighting and digital instrument console.

The Vespa 946 Dior Special Edition will see its launch worldwide in March next year and of course this will be a limited run model. It sure would be expensive and we are expecting the price to be somewhat similar to the Vespa 946 Emporio Armani Edition. That puts the estimated pricing in the region of 10,000 Euros (Rs 8.5 lakh without taxes). However, given the fact that the Vespa Armani edition couldn’t make much of a mark in the Indian market, it’s unlikely that the Christian Dior Edition will be brought here to India.
