In an attempt to give a new high to its brand image, Datsun has recently started its all India roadshow in Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai. During these roadshows, Datsun’s new car , the Datsun Go will be displayed at high footfall shopping malls so that the potential customers may have a closer look at the car before it is launched in India in 2014. The company also indicated that the car may be launched in and about Auto Expo which will take place in Noida in early February, 2014. The car is targeted towards first time buyers and all of its variants will be available in sub 4 lakh rupees.
The Go is Datsun’s debut vehicle in the country and hence, stakes are extremely high. The cat measures 3,785 mm long, 1,635 mm wide and 1,485 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,450 mm. It runs on a 1.2L engine coupled with a five-speed manual transmission. It will also have hybrid and other fuel options like Diesel CNG or LPG in the coming days as the company sees a lot of potential in the segment.
To take their marketing communication effort to the next level, Datsun plans to install interactive displays in 90 tier-1 and tier–2 cities. Specially created pavilions and LCD displays will show information about the brand and the Datsun Go during these road shows. To introduce some innovations on the pricing front, Datsun Go will have a uniform ex-showroom price pan India. The company also intends to ramp up its sales, distribution and service network to ensure an easy buying process as well as lower ownership cost.
There will be a Datsun club where customers can collaborate and participate in an interactive thoughts and views exchange about the car. For the time being, Nissan’s existing infrastructure will be utilized to sell the new car so that customers will have the same premium experience of buying and owning a Datsun as the experience with Nissan. Datsun is all set to enter the Indian market with a bang and the products it has in its portfolio better live up to the hype as the expectations now are on the higher side of things.
