Toyota has been smartly upgrading it over the course of 7 decades. First of all, it has equipped the Land Cruiser with an incredibly reliable and rugged engine. The components are also adequately designed and manufactured so that they run more than the life of the vehicle itself. With that strong foundation, Toyota cleverly keeps updating the aesthetics and interior to accommodate a better exterior design and some new convenience features. Essentially, the vehicle remains the same apart from a few aesthetic changes.

Hence, the older model remains in demand since people don’t like to spend a huge premium on minor updates. As a result, the older models don’t lose their resale values at all. This is especially true when compared to other premium luxury vehicles that lose their value incredibly quickly. Since the 2022 model is currently on sale, the last-ten 2017 model is in demand in the used car market. It costs around Rs 1.35 Crore, while the 2022 model has an ex-showroom price of Rs 2.10 Crore. Therefore, people don’t want to spend such a huge premium and are rather buying the 2017 model at Rs 1.35 Crore happily.
