The deliveries of the Mahindra Scorpio N have commenced and a few people are selling it in the used market against a markup to beat the long waiting times.
As soon as the deliveries of the Mahindra Scorpio N began, people have already started selling them on OLX as used cars. Scorpio N shattered all records by bagging over 1 lakh bookings in just 25 minutes of the booking portal opening. Needless to say, that entailed waiting periods of more than a year. But there are people who couldn’t book it quickly enough. They will either have to wait for over 1 year or can buy one in the used car market. However, the markup in the used car market can be quite unpredictable.

Mahindra Scorpio N as Used Car
The video comes from carversal on YouTube. He takes a look at the listings on OLX where people are selling the Scorpio N against a markup. Surprisingly, the markups range from Rs 15,000 to over Rs 20 lakh. In fact, one owner is selling his SUV for Rs 50 lakh! Now, we don’t know if these are pranks or not, but we can safely assume that no one would pay that kind of unwarranted premium. Sure, people would be willing to pay some extra money to get their hands on one to beat the long waiting periods, but that can’t be so huge.

The narrator decided to contact some of these dealers who are asking for a more reasonable markup. All of these had listed their Scorpio N SUVs on OLX. After talking to a few of them, one thing is clear that he will be the second owner of the car. However, the deliveries will be done straight out of the showroom. So, these won’t actually be used, in the true sense. Also, these prices are negotiable. However, one might still need to pay the markup of over Rs 65,000 in every case.

Most Demand a Reasonably Small Markup
Considering the prices of the SUV and the kind of waiting periods it commands, around Rs 50,000 markup price might well be justified. This is especially true if you want a vehicle urgently. Obviously, these things are relative but generally speaking, an additional price of around Rs 50,000 – Rs 75,000 for a vehicle priced over Rs 20 lakh seems justified. You can beat the waiting times. What are your thoughts on this matter?
