Just like the recently spotted Classic 350, Royal Enfield Thunderbird X in a new updated avatar, has been spotted testing in Chennai.
Just a day after
Thunderbird is available in the regular as well as the Urban styled ‘X’ variants. The latter gets alloy wheels, different colour options and a slightly revised styling, to differentiate itself.
Now, the Thunderbird X has been spotted testing in Chennai, under mild camouflage. Like the Classic 350, we expect the spotted test mule to be equipped with a BS-6 engine.

For starters, it gets a redesigned set of blacked out alloy wheels. The exhaust muffler is a new and shorter unit. Like the current one, it uses a chrome detailed exhaust instead of the blacked out one.
Well, there is a lot of confusion regarding the spotted Thunderbird X being a new Thunderbird with alloy wheels. There are chances that it can be true, but the latter gets pillion backrest as standard, which is not seen on the test mule.
Like the Classic 350, the chain drive of the test mule has been shifted to the left side and the disc brake comes on the right. Probably, RE might have revised the swingarm of the bike.

Since we suspect it to house a BS-6 engine underneath, the updated Thunderbird X will offer a better performance. With the inclusion of a fuel injection system in all models post 2020, the power figures will slightly increase.
Other minor changes include a revised tail lamp and the discontinuation of the kick-starter. Probably, like premium modern bikes, Royal Enfield could offer only an electric starter.
As we stated earlier, Royal Enfield will majorly update its existing lineup for the 2020 Auto Expo. The company had confirmed this development earlier in a media interview. Also, it has stated that the BS-6 engines schedule is right on time.

With the power thump and minor revisions, we expect the prices to be hiked by nearly Rs 5000. We expect this updated model to be launched at the 2020 Auto Expo.
