Skoda is set to launch 4 new cars in 2021, but it has started with an update of the Superb. The Superb is a champion of the premium executive sedan segment, which has lost its popularity after the relentless attack by the SUVs in India. To revive the declining interests of customers in this segment, Skoda has decided to freshen up things with an updated Superb. Will this be enough to rival its German counterparts and other SUVs, remains to be seen. First, let’s check out what has changed in this update.
2021 Skoda Superb – Exterior
Superb has always been a sophisticated looking car with an understated design language. Although it may be modern with a tone chrome on the grille and lower half of the bumper, it retains its timeless and sharp looks. The prominent butterfly-grille along with a sharp LED Headlamp cluster and LED DRLs give it a more modern appeal. Skoda has added a ton of technology to its LED headlamp unit. It is called the active lighting system which has four modes: city, inter-city, motorway and rain. The dynamic headlamp inclination control and cornering functions are some of the highlights of this technology. the rear end of the car includes LED tail lamps connected by a thin chrome strip. The side profile shows the windows surrounded by a chrome strip as well.
2021 Skoda Superb – Interior
There are a ton of changes on the inside as well. Of course, the center console holds the 8-inch Digital Touchscreen Infotainment System with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and SmartLink, In-built Navigation, as well as Wireless Charging, USB-C Charging Ports, Digital Virtual Cockpit and a 360-degree Camera. The higher-spec L&K trim also gets additional features like a flat-bottom steering wheel and steering mounted parking assist controls. There is perforated leather upholstery on offer with a Beige or Coffee Brown theme. The boot space is a colossal 625-litre with a powered tailgate and there is also a Sunroof on offer. The safety list is also huge with features like 8 Airbags, ABS with ESC, Parking Camera and Sensors, Hill-start assist and Hill descent control. Other functions include Tyre Pressure Monitoring System and Drive Fatigue Warning.

2021 Skoda Superb – Engine and Transmission
The Skoda Superb comes with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine (TSI) making 190hp and 320Nm mated to a 7-speed Dual-Clutch transmission. This will continue to be the sole engine option with the Superb. This engine is BS6 compliant and is powerful enough to give Superb a 0-100 kmph sprint time of 8.43 secs.

2021 Skoda Superb – Prices and Rivals
The 2021 Skoda Superb comes in two trim levels, the SportLine and L&K (Laurin and Klement). The SportLine variant costs Rs 31.99 lakh, ex-showroom and the L&K variant costs Rs 34.99 lakh, ex-showroom. There are no traditional competitors to the Superb apart from the German rivals that cost significantly higher. We can say that the Skoda Superb is in a league of its own, literally.
