Tata Motors might launch at least 4 new CNG variants of its popular products in India. The third-largest carmaker in the country wants to leave no stone unturned in order to try and beat Hyundai for the second-highest monthly car sales. The growing fuel prices have opened a window of new opportunities for carmakers to try their hand out with CNG variants of their existing models. The main advantage of CNG vehicles is that it doesn’t require too many changes to any regular car. At the moment, Maruti Suzuki rules the market almost alone with a ton of CNG products. Hyundai also has some CNG cars. But apart from that, no one has been able to offer CNG-powered products so far. Tata Motors wants to cash in at this opportunity.

Tata To Launch Multiple CNG Variants?
The carmaker has been seen an exponential rise in monthly car sales for quite some time now. It is clipping at the heels of Hyundai for a long time now. It has successfully been able to surpass the Kia and Mahindra with quite some margin consistently. To grab some more market space, the CNG sector is what Tata is aiming for now. Rising prices of petrol and diesel are forcing car buyers to opt for aftermarket CNG kit or buy CNG cars. Tata might soon start launching the CNG models of its popular cars like the Tiago, Tigor, Altroz and Nexon. These four cars bring the majority of sales for the Indian carmaker and are relatively affordable. That is why Tata wants to offer CNG on these products. We have seen some of these products testing with CNG powertrains. Hence, the launch might be imminent.

Generally, the CNG cars have lower power and torque output but are extremely low on cost of operation compared to petrol or diesel cars. Also, the infrastructure for the CNG cars is quite well developed in at least the big cities in India. This is a great advantage of owning a CNG car. There is not too high a premium to buy a CNG car compared to the electric version of the same car. All these characteristics ensure a great foundation for Tata to launch the CNG variants of its products.
