The Indian car scene continues to heat up with a wide range of new car launches lined up for 2015. While many of the upcoming cars in India 2015 will go on sale in the fast heating up C segment of our country’s car bazaar, there’s also a list of upcoming small cars in India 2015 that should capture the fascination of the small car buyer. At the pricier-end of this list is the much awaited new Suzuki Baleno/Fronx, which is not too far away from making inroads into India. On the other hand, there’s the Tata Kite, which would soon find itself slotted between the Nano and the Bolt in Tata‘s product line-up. Tata Kite/Glade

- Rivals: Hyundai i10, Alto K10, Hyundai Eon, Chevrolet Beat
In all probability, the Tata Kite/Glade will replace the dated Indica. The upcoming small car has been spotted testing on many occasions and from the looks of it, the next small car from Tata will carry a design language that won’t be too different from what we have already seen on the Bolt and the Zest.
Renault Kwid
- Price: Below INR 4 lakhs (Estimated )
- Launch Date: Q3, FY 2015
- Engine: 800cc Petrol
- Rivals: Maruti Alto 800, Hyundai Eon
The upcoming Renault small car looks like a small crossover and could very well bring a revolution in the entry-level car market of our country. Expected to come with an 800cc petrol motor, the Kwid could give the high-selling Alto 800 a run for its money!

Maruti YRA – Baleno/Fronx
- Estimated Price: INR 6-8 lakhs
- Launch Date: End 2015
- Engine: 1.0 litre turbocharged petrol, 1.3 litre Multijet diesel
- Competition: Honda Jazz, Hyundai i20
Expected to go on sale under the ‘Fronx’ moniker, the upcoming Maruti YRA hatchback will rival the likes of New Honda Jazz and the Hyundai Elite i20. It will be interesting to see the reaction of Indian car buying lot to this rather highly ambitious project from Maruti Suzuki.
New Ford Figo

- Engine: 1.2 litre 4-cylinder Ti-VCT petrol, 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder, TDCI turbo diesel motor
- Competition: Maruti Swift, Honda Brio
The new Ford Figo, in all probability, would retain the strengths of the current model, which means that the car should score highly in terms of frugality, robustness and affordability. The new Figo showcases Ford’s Kinetic design language and boasts of many more features. Figo has been instrumental in turning the fortunes of Ford in India and the new model should further strengthen Ford India in the small car market. Ford India, at the launch of the Figo Aspire sedan, confirmed the launch of the Figo will take place during the festive season followed by the launch of the Endeavour SUV. The entry-level variant of the new Figo could retail for as less as INR 4.5 lacs (ex-showroom).
