The most popular of the lost, the Honda Activa has already overtaken the Hero Splendor as the highest selling two wheeler in terms of monthly sales. Every manufacturer wants of piece of the pie a direct implication of which will be a slew of new launches in the coming year. New
Yamaha Fascino
Following the success of models such as the Ray and Alpha, Yamaha Motors India introduced a new scooter this year. Known as the Nozza Grande in other south-east Asian markets, the Fascino is funky looking scooter which gets retro styling and a 113cc engine which puts out 7 bhp and returns a very healthy 66 kpl.

Honda Activa
In 2015, Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) refreshed the Activa‘s line-up with minor visual enhancements. These updates were carried out on the Activa 110cc, which is now referred to as the Activa 3G, and the Activa-i models. The latter is targetted at the Activa’s female audience.

Vespa
Piaggio recently revamped its Vespa range of scooters in India with the addition of new variants and also introduced the 150cc versions. Vespa SXL and VXL variants have been introduced replacing the previous LX, VX and S variants. The 125cc Vespa puts out 10 bhp while the 150cc puts out 11.6 bhp.

Maestro Edge
Showcased as the Hero Dash during the 2014 Auto Expo, Hero will be launching the scooter very soon under the Maestro edge moniker. The scooter looks more masculine and sporty than the current Maestro on sale and is aimed at male buyers. The Maestro Edge will be powered by a 8.44 bhp, 111cc engine and will compete in the fiercely contested 110cc segment.

The Zir, which was showcased at the last Auto Expo, is a 150cc offering that is expected to reach production some time next year. Currently, there is only one 150cc scooter on sale in India, the Vespa, so bringing in the Zir by early next year could Hero a big advantage in this upcoming segment.
